Kenyan Casino and Card Room Gaming
In September 2007, the High Court in Kenya ruled that the business hours of casinos can be restricted and regulated to protect members of society who can be exploited or become addicted.
In April 2016, the Kenya Film Classification Board ruled that all ads relating to gambling may not be aired on television between the hours of 5am and 10pm. Government lotteries are exempt from this ruling.
Subsequent Finance Acts have revised rates multiple times, and betting and gaming now face a mix of excise and income-tax-based levies rather than a single 35% uniform rate.
